Terms of use
Last updated: 1 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Honeypetal when you use our website (honeypetal.app) and our app (app.honeypetal.app). We've tried to keep them short and plain. Please read them, along with our Privacy policy and Refund policy.
Honeypetal (ABN 14 629 819 951) is a sole trader business based in South Australia. "We" and "us" means Honeypetal. "You" means the person using Honeypetal.
1. Who can use Honeypetal
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Children can use Honeypetal alongside a parent or carer, but they can't have their own accounts.
- The person who creates a family account (the owner) is responsible for who they invite, and for the information added about children in that family.
2. Your account
- Keep your sign-in details safe, and don't share your account. Invite family members instead, so each person has their own sign-in.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
- Give us a real email address. We use it for sign-in, receipts and important notices.
3. Family accounts and sharing
- A family account can have more than one adult. Everyone in it can see and edit the family's information, depending on their role.
- The owner can invite and remove people. When someone is removed, they lose access to that family's information.
- Only invite people you trust with your children's information.
4. Your information belongs to you
- Everything you add (plans, records, photos, lists, reports) stays yours.
- You give us permission to store, copy and display it only so we can run Honeypetal for you, for example to sync it between devices and create your reports.
- We don't claim ownership of your content, and we don't use it for anything else. Our Privacy policy explains how we look after it.
- Only upload content you have the right to use, and that doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights.
5. Plans, trials and payments
- Free trial: new families get a 14-day free trial of Honeypetal Learn and Honeypetal Home. No card is needed. If you choose a plan during your trial, your first payment is taken when the trial ends. If you don't choose a plan, your access simply stops at the end of the trial and you won't be charged.
- Prices: Honeypetal Learn is A$12 a month or A$99 a year, including any GST, unless a different price was shown when you signed up. The price you see at checkout is the total you pay.
- Founding families: families who joined the waitlist and sign up during the founding offer keep their founding price for as long as their subscription stays active. If you cancel and come back later, the price at that time applies.
- Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. We'll remind you before a yearly plan renews.
- Who takes payment: subscriptions are sold and processed through Link, Stripe's payment service, which looks after billing, tax and receipts for us. Your receipt and bank statement will show "LINK.COM* HONEYPETAL". Stripe/Link's own terms also apply to the payment.
- Price changes: if we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal at the new price, so you can cancel first if you want to.
- Cancelling: the family's owner can cancel at any time from Me → Your plan → Manage billing, or through their Link account at link.com. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds: see our Refund policy.
6. Our name and our work
The Honeypetal name, logo, app design, text and software belong to us. You can use them only to use Honeypetal, not to copy them or make your own version. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Honeypetal without paying you. We'll never share your name with them unless you say we can.
7. Using Honeypetal fairly
Please don't:
- try to get into another family's information, or test our security without our permission
- upload anything illegal, harmful or that exploits children
- copy, resell or rebuild Honeypetal, or use automated tools to scrape it
- disrupt the service or overload it on purpose
If someone breaks these rules, we may suspend or close their account. We'll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us.
8. Records, reports and advice
- Honeypetal helps you keep records of your homeschool. You're responsible for meeting your state's home education requirements.
- Term reports are created from what you enter. They are records, not legal or educational advice, and we can't promise any authority will accept them.
- Term dates and other general information are provided to help you plan. Always check official sources for anything important.
- Honeypetal isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any government department or education authority.
9. Keeping Honeypetal running
- We work hard to keep Honeypetal available and your information safe, but we can't promise it will never have faults or downtime.
- We may change, improve or remove features over time. If we remove something important from a paid plan, we'll tell you first.
- If we ever close Honeypetal, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice, the chance to download your information, and a refund for any time you've paid for but can't use.
10. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For example, we must provide them with due care and skill, and they must be fit for the purpose we say they're for. If we fail to meet a guarantee, you're entitled to a remedy, which may include having the problem fixed or a refund. Nothing in these terms takes those rights away or limits them.
Apart from those rights, we aren't responsible for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, or by your own use of the information you enter.
Please keep your own copies of anything critical, such as downloaded reports.
11. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time from Me → Account → Delete my account, or by emailing hello@honeypetal.app. If you're the only owner of a family, the family is deleted too. Please cancel any paid plan first. We'll delete your information as explained in our Privacy policy.
- We may close an account that breaks these terms, or that has been inactive and unpaid for more than two years. In that case, we'll email you first.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make an important change, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.
13. If something goes wrong between us
Please email us first at hello@honeypetal.app, so we can try to fix it together. Most problems can be sorted out quickly. If we can't agree, you can contact Consumer and Business Services SA or your local consumer affairs agency. Nothing here stops you using your legal rights.
14. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia.
15. Contact
